Starting Indoors: In very early spring, sow 1″ apart, cover 1/2″ deep in containers of potting mix. Keep moist and provide a strong light source; seeds germinate slowly over 2-3 weeks. When seedlings reach 3″ tall, transplant 4″ apart in fertile soil and full sun, planting deep, so tips stick up 1″ above ground.
Starting Outdoors: after frost danger is over, sow seeds 1″ apart and 1/2″ deep in a sunny bed with fertile soil. When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to 4″ apart.
