Alocasia sanderiana var. nobilis – 11cm

Alocasia sanderiana var. nobilis, the Kris Plant, is one of the most striking species in the Alocasia genus. The arrow-shaped leaves are deep metallic green, almost black, with bold silvery-white veining and dramatically undulating, lobed margins. The undersides are deep purple. It is a statement plant in every sense, compact enough for a tabletop but with foliage that commands attention from across a room.

Origins

Native to the Philippines, Alocasia sanderiana grows in tropical forest understorey at low elevations. The variety nobilis is distinguished by its more compact size and intensified colouration. It is now critically rare in the wild.
