Alocasia scalprum

Alocasia scalprum features a leathery texture and a dark, near-black green colour that gives them an almost rubbery look. The foliage is remarkably rigid, and the leaves hold their shape with a structural quality that sets this species apart from the thinner-leaved Alocasias. It is a compact, slow grower that stays manageable, and its toughness makes it more forgiving of fluctuations in humidity than many of its relatives.

Origins
Native to the Philippines, Alocasia scalprum grows in humid tropical forest understorey at low elevations. It is uncommon in cultivation and rarely seen outside specialist collections.
