This is a great tasting, tender, typically coreless carrot with a rich bright orange colour. Mercurio is the original Nantes hybrid carrot. Seed tapes help you get strong, healthy plants with no thinning, double planting, or missed spots in the row.
For best growth select a sunny spot with a well prepared deep soil. Sow successive crops 2 weeks apart from mid-spring to early summer. Lay out the seed tape in the desired location and cover it with 6 mm (1/4″) of soil. Space rows 50 cm (20″) apart. Keep the seedbed evenly moist during the 14-21 day germination period. For best seed emergence, avoid crusting over the soil while the seeds are sprouting. Thin seedlings to 5 cm (2″) apart. Keep the soil evenly moist during the growing season and avoid high nitrogen fertilizers when growing carrots.
