Ficus carica cv PANTERA NERA ex TAURO

TheFicus carica cv. PANTERA NERA ex TAURO is a rare and striking cultivar of the common fig, celebrated for its extraordinary pigmentation, vigorous productivity, and Mediterranean heritage. This exceptional fig variety features medium to large fruits cloaked in a deep purple to almost black skin, subtly textured and often adorned with a silvery bloom. When split open, the fruits reveal an intense crimson-red pulp, lush with a rich, honeyed flavor and an aromatic complexity reminiscent of wild berries and resin. The Pantera Nera fig ripens in mid to late season, producing a single crop (unifera type) with remarkable consistency and size uniformity. Its architectural growth habit forms a wide, open crown with thick, trilobate leaves that offer excellent coverage and sun resistance, enhancing both its productivity and ornamental appeal. Bred by Tauro, a renowned Italian fig breeder, the cultivar is a standout for collectors seeking fruit with dark pigmentation, reliable performance, and ornamental value. Ideal for both ground planting and large containers, Ficus carica ‘Pantera Nera’ thrives in warm climates and Mediterranean-style gardens.
