Labisia ‘Turtleback’ is a rare jewel plant with deeply patterned leaves that mimic the scutes of a turtle shell, raised, rounded cells of rich dark green with paler veins between. Plants stay low to the ground, spreading gently as they age, and suit growers who love close-up, highly detailed foliage. A specimen for a terrarium, plant cabinet, or humid bathroom shelf where its texture can be fully admired.
Origins
Labisia species are native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, with a range across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, where they grow as small terrestrial herbs on shaded, humid forest floors among leaf litter.
