Mesembryanthemum crystallinum SEEDS

Mesembryanthemum crystallinum seeds produce a remarkable plant often called the crystalline ice plant or common ice plant. This salt-tolerant succulent originates from the coastal Mediterranean region and thrives in dry, salty environments. Gardeners appreciate its sparkling, glistening appearance created by tiny bladder cells on its surface. These cells reflect light, making the plant look as if covered in ice crystals.

The Mesembryanthemum crystallinum will develop fleshy, bright green leaves that store water efficiently. This succulent with bladder cells adapts well to harsh conditions, acting as a natural xerophyte and drought-resistant plant. It also plays a role in stabilizing coastal soils due to its tolerance to saline habitats. The plants growth habit is low and spreading, making it a stunning ground cover with a unique texture.
