Monstera Deliciosa – 14cm

Monstera deliciosa, the iconic Swiss cheese plant, is arguably the most recognisable houseplant in the world and for good reason. Glossy, heart-shaped juvenile leaves mature into enormous, deeply fenestrated blades that can span well over half a metre in a well-grown specimen. Given a moss pole or tall support, mature plants will climb steadily upwards, producing ever larger and more dramatic leaves. Easy-going, fast-growing, and happy in almost any bright spot, Monstera deliciosa is a brilliant choice for almost any home or office.

Origins
Monstera deliciosa is native to the tropical rainforests of southern Mexico and Central America, from Chiapas south through Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and into Panama. In the wild it starts life on the forest floor before climbing tree trunks to reach the brighter canopy.

Soil and Substrate
Monstera deliciosa has thick, vigorous aerial and underground roots that need air as much as they need moisture. Our Monstera and Philodendron Potting Mix is a great choice. The chunky blend of bark, perlite, coco chips, and charcoal keeps the root zone well oxygenated, drains quickly enough to prevent rot, and still holds enough moisture to support the fast growth and big leaves this plant is famous for.
