Paeonia ‘Pink Ardour’ Itoh Peony

Paeonia ‘Pink Ardour’ is a compact Itoh peony, growing to 18 to 24 inches tall with a slightly wider spread. This late spring to early summer bloomer delights with abundant, semi-double flowers featuring raspberry-pink petals and golden stamens. Lightly fragrant, the blooms sit atop sturdy stems, perfect for cutting. The lush, dark green foliage remains vibrant throughout the summer and transitions to rich purple or gold tones in autumn, adding seasonal interest.

‘Pink Ardour’ is an intersectional peony, blending the strength of tree peonies with the prolific flowering of herbaceous varieties. Its bushy habit makes it ideal for mixed borders, garden beds, or as a lovely hedge when planted in groups. Hardy to Zones 2-8, this resilient and low-maintenance perennial thrives for decades, bringing enduring beauty to your garden.

Easy to grow and adaptable, ‘Pink Ardour’ prefers sunny to partially shaded locations with humus-rich, medium moist, and well-draining soil. Mulching helps keep roots cool and soil moist, while protection from strong winds ensures optimal growth. Prune the foliage back to the ground in late fall to prepare for the next season. Resistant to deer and rabbits, ‘Pink Ardour’ is a garden favorite.

Plant ‘Pink Ardour’ Itoh peony roots in spring, burying them 1 to 2 inches deep, and space 36 to 48 inches apart for multiple plantings. Cold winters encourage bud formation, making this peony perfect for gardeners in colder climates.
