Pennyroyal – Eagleridge Seeds

Mentha pulegium

Pennyroyal is a fragrant, low-growing herb in the mint family, prized for its versatile uses and vibrant history. Native to Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa, it has been cherished for centuries for its aromatic leaves and potent properties.

This hardy perennial forms dense mats of bright green foliage and produces clusters of delicate purple flowers in late summer, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. Its strong minty aroma makes it a favorite for natural pest repellents, sachets, and essential oils.

Historically, pennyroyal has been used in folk remedies and traditional medicine, often as a tea or infused oil for its purported digestive and respiratory benefits. However, due to its potent nature, it must be used cautiously and under expert guidance.

Perfect for cottage gardens, herb patches, or container planting, pennyroyal thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Its creeping growth habit also makes it an excellent choice as a ground cover.

Add a touch of history, utility, and beauty to your garden with this classic herb.

(Note: Pennyroyal is toxic if ingested in large quantitieshandle and use responsibly.)
