Rumex acetosa (Common Sorrel)

Common or garden sorrel can be grown for its edible leaves which has a sharp taste similar to apple. Sorrel also has wildlife benefits as the larval food plant of the Small Copper butterfly.

All wildflowers are grown from seed on site. Seed is collected from theWildlife Meadow here at Ashwood Nurserieswhen possible or from British suppliers.

Wildflowers are best planted in the spring or autumn when possible but can be planted in the summer if water can be provided.
