Velvet Queen Sunflower Seeds (Organic)

The Velvet Queen Sunflower, scientifically known as Helianthus annuus, is a distinct and visually striking sunflower variety. Originating in North America, these sunflowers stand out with their deep burgundy or velvety red petals that encircle a dark chocolate-brown center, creating a captivating contrast of colors. These sunflowers can grow to a height of up to 6 feet (1.8 meters), producing solitary blossoms that serve as eye-catching focal points in gardens.

Unlike some sunflowers grown for their edible seeds, the Velvet Queen Sunflower is primarily cultivated for its ornamental beauty. Its nectar-rich blooms attract essential pollinators like bees and butterflies, contributing to the overall biodiversity of your garden.

To grow Velvet Queen Sunflowers from seeds successfully, you’ll need well-draining soil and plenty of sunlight. These sunflowers thrive in full sun, requiring at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Plant the seeds in the spring when frost is no longer a concern, at a depth of around 1 inch (2.5 centimeters), spacing them 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 centimeters) apart.

Velvet Queen Sunflowers are a popular choice among gardeners looking to add a touch of drama and beauty to their outdoor spaces. Their captivating appearance and ease of cultivation make them a valuable addition to gardens and landscapes while supporting essential pollinators.
